Preventing Falls – A Guide for People living with Parkinson’s disease.

Falls can happen to anyone, anywhere, anytime. Having Parkinson’s will increase your risk of falls.

 

Prevention and planning can reduce your risk for falls. Not all falls can be prevented, but there are things you can do to keep yourself safe and reduce the number of falls and injury.

 

This month, Parkinson Canada is launching a new resource to address this important topic. In this webinar we have a chance to hear from the Author Nicole Acerra PhD BScPT BA on some of the causes of falls and suggest simple and practical suggestions to keep you active, independent, and on your feet.

 

Nicole Acerra, PhD

Nicole Acerra, PhD, is a physiotherapist with a passion for neurological and vestibular rehabilitation. She completed her psychology and physiotherapy degrees at Queen’s University, Canada, her doctoral studies at The University of Queensland, Australia and her post-doctoral research at the University of British Columbia (UBC), Canada. Nicole has 20 years clinical experience treating patients in acute and outpatient settings across Canada, the US, and Australia. Nicole currently works for Vancouver Coastal Health and sees private patients.  She enjoys helping clinicians grow their clinical knowledge through physiotherapy courses and webinars.  When not at work, Nicole enjoys family time in the North Shore mountains.
